Your Holiday Accessories Sorted

Packing your capsule holiday wardrobe is hard enough, let alone deciding what accessories you’ll pair with each of your carefully selected outfits. This summer, I’ve got the quintessential necklaces, rings and earrings for whatever holiday you’re headed on. So pick your destination, and let me provide your one stop holiday jewellery guide.

SUNGLASSES

What is it about glasses with lenses hued somewhere between orange and yellow? They have all of the connotations of a creepy uncle, or Ali G, or Christian Bale’s paunchy character from American Hustle. But forget all of that, because the retro item has been receiving a serious comeback: Most recently, Slick Woods, the Internet’s favourite cool kid, gave her ’90s amber-hued redux pair the red carpet treatment to go with her ’70s-style Gypsy Sport getup at the CFDA awards. The amber shades are an optic wear staple for photographer Lea Colombo, who wears them indoors, too. For those looking for UV protection, model Emma Oak often wears a pair of mustard-glazed shades, while Lily Donaldson sported a rimless version during the Louis Vuitton Resort 2017 show in Rio, and rapper Dej Loaf blinged out her tawny sunnies with a neck full of jewellery. Considering that they combine both the current good-taste-meets-bad-taste obsession with the naughties and the retro ’70s, the return of the sleazy-chic shades shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. Even on the recent runways, the sunglasses made a return, whether at Fall/Winter 2017 Prada, where yellowed lenses were put into quirky, plastic frames, or the sculpted, flat brims at Loewe. Alessandro Michele’s Gucci has long paraded pairs of the by-way-of-Boca shades: At Resort 2017, the yellowed lenses were seen as fist-sized flip-ups or inserted into square black rims, while in Fall 2016, they took on a cool aviator form. Sounds like it’s time to call up that uncle of yours and borrow a pair.

BIKINI

There's good news and bad news. The bad news is that most of the swimsuits are sooo amazing, you might have to go on more holidays this ear to show them all off. The good news is that many of the trends that made this season so fun and sexy are available right now. You just have to know what you're looking for. Have a look at the gallery for 10 most trendy styles this season.

JEWELLERY

Lupita in her belly chain, Rihanna in her belly chain, Beyoncé in her belly chain . . . sometimes it can seem like you have to be a celebrity powerhouse to rock any extra gilded flair on the beach. And yet, in these lazy dog days of summer, one can find oneself at any number of sand-and-surf fêtes feeling entirely, well, under-decorated. There’s just something so appealing about those gently worn wristfuls of friendship bracelets, those beach hair–accenting earrings, those artfully paired necklaces, something so evocative of long days and longer, warm nights. It looks like a summer well spent, is what I’m saying. Just a little hint of gold at the wrist, maybe a nice flash at the ankle, some colour from the earlobes—an extra whiff of luxury, to go with your expertly picked suit, that’s all you ask. Well consider your prayers answered, because we’ve gathered the perfect smattering of jewellery to layer on and accent your brand new tan. After all, just because you’re at the beach doesn’t mean you have to forget about style. Since bikini is the only thing you need to accessorise, might as well go big! Invest in a statement jewellery. Big floppy hat, bohemian bracelets, matching ring sets, anklets, body chains and greek goddess earrings!

Let me know what you like to wear on the beach. Maybe you have an accessory that you just cannot go on holiday without? Maybe you just found something new? Or spotted someone wearing something amazing? Share share share!!! Hope you have a lovely holiday!

Lots of sunny hugs,

Juste
